The Vixen VMC optics: This compact, small reflector is ideal for travelling, as it fits into almost any rucksack, but still offers very decent imaging performance. The long focal length is particularly suitable for observing the moon and planets, where high magnification is important.
The integrated folding mirror unit allows for very comfortable viewing from two different positions and also allows a camera to be connected at the same time. There is a T2 thread on the eyepiece mount for attaching a T2 ring for your camera.
Another advantage of this optics is the curved secondary mirror spider, which reduces diffraction, and the meniscus lens in front of the secondary mirror, which ensures a compact tube with a long focal length. Since the meniscus is integrated into the secondary mirror in the optical design of the Vixen Maksutovs, there is no need for a heavy glass plate. This makes the telescope comparatively light and better protected against fogging than Maksutov optics from other manufacturers.
The advantages at a glance:
- Ideal for travelling: short and light.
- Versatile, but also a real moon and planet specialist!
- Integrated folding mirror unit
- Prism rail with camera tripod thread
The Porta II is the Mercedes among azimuth mounts: beautifully designed, very solidly constructed and proven thousands of times over!
If you are looking for a simple mount that can be quickly packed, easily transported and set up, the Porta II is the right choice. It can safely support smaller optics up to 5 kg and 16 cm outer diameter. You can easily move your telescope in azimuth and elevation by hand, and thanks to the friction brake, the mount holds the set elevation angle firmly in place.
The Porta II has two handles for fine adjustment and tracking. The position of the handles is variable, so you can ergonomically adapt your Porta II to different optical tubes.
The tool included in the scope of delivery is required to adjust the fine adjustment position or the friction brake. The Porta II has a small storage compartment for this purpose.
The Porta II mount can be detached from the tripod with a simple screw. This can be done easily by hand with a non-slip screw, so that you can transport the tripod and mount separately and still be ready for use quickly.
The PORTA II is equipped with the prism rail system introduced by Vixen. Most telescope manufacturers have adopted this system, so you can use virtually any optical tube.
Azimuth mounts are ideal for quick, mobile use of small optics. They owe their popularity to their intuitive operation, light weight and the fact that they take up very little space. The Porta II is the best choice for this type of mount!
