After the huge success of our APM 105 and APM 115 lightweight OTA apochromats, we have decided to also offer the APM 130 in a lightweight version. We produce this version with retractable dew shield, 50mm quick-release finder bracket, tube ring clamps, GP mounting rail, and a 2" Starlight FeatherTouch focuser with 1:10 micro-reduction gear with a drawtube between focuser and OTA for quick focusing.
This version lets you photograph with CCD or 35mm SLR camera and use a wide field bino-viewer without need of a Barlow/glass path corrector. For wide field astrophotography, we recommend the use of a TeleVue 0.80X field flattener.
The APM 130 f6 LW is so compact and lightweight that it counts as a real travel telescope which can be very adequately carried on less expensive mounts. This chromatic aberration correction of this APM apochromat even exceeds that of competing f7 apos (3 lens element). With the help of 2" wide angle eyepieces, this high-end apo can be used to observe extended star fields and nebulae, and can also be used for planetary and double star observing at the highest magnifications.
