Intes Micro is the world's only manufacturer of a whole series of Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes of exceptionally good optical quality, which was previously only rarely achieved even by Carl ZEISS in Jena with their well-known Meniscas 180.
Each Maksutov-Cassegrain has main mirror focusing, but without any visible mirror-shift. Up to a diameter of 10", every telescope has the famous 2" Schmidt-Cassegrain connection thread on the back. Telescopes of over 10" also have a fixed primary mirror with eyepiece focuser possible.
Each telescope has an internal baffle system for effectively suppressing any stray light. The OTAs are painted in cream white and prepared for receiving a dew shield with baffles. With an ideally designed field flattener / focal length reducer of 0.80X (0.75X measured), and 0.60X (0.55X measured) shorter exposure times with wider image fields are possible, which stay pin-sharp right to the edge of the image. The focusing latitude provided by the main mirror focusing system allows the connection of almost any accessory.
The 8" model comes with a dovetail connection as standard, which is selected by the customer to fit their own mount. There are now many items on the Internet about the quality of this 8" Maksutov telescope which often state that the contrast is visibly superior to that of standard SC telescopes.
The 8" Maksutov is about equivalent to a good 6" apo for planetary observing and to a 7" refractor for observing DSOs. Due to its extreme sharpness and contrast performance, the merely 203mm aperture can exceed the performance of larger SC systems when observing bright DSOs.
