The Kelvin Bright combines a telescope for visual observation with a parallel-mounted apochromatic refractor connected to a camera. The system thus enables:
- Automatic alignment and tracking of the telescope across the sky
- GoTo: Selection from approximately 100,000 celestial objects, which are automatically tracked to.
- Observation of the selected celestial object through the larger optical system using an eyepiece (included)
- Photography of the selected celestial object using live-stacking technology through the parallel refractor
- Controls and transmission of images via dual-band Wi-Fi and the free “MirroSky” Smartphone app for Android and iOS
Please note: The technical specifications in the product name refer to the larger optical system for visual observation. The optical system used for photography is a 52 mm ED refractor with a focal length of 255 millimetres (f/5) and a helical focuser.
The camera features a 1/2.8-inch colour CMOS sensor with a resolution of 1920×1080 Pixels and a 12-bit analogue-to-digital converter. The camera has 64 GB of internal storage – enough for around 8,000 images.
Image processing: The telescope handles the stacking of individual frames, alignment, noise reduction and basic colour correction itself, directly whilst capturing the image. The result is a finished image of a nebula or galaxy, ready to be saved and shared. The raw data for subsequent processing is available in the memory.
The camera is powered via the mount using a USB-C cable (included in the pack).
Maksutov telescopes
Maksutov telescopes are very compact and therefore ideally suited for portable use or for when travelling. The enclosed optics and collimation stability with Maksutovs ensure their robustness.
Maksutov telescopes have a very long focal length despite their compact design. But the field of view is rather narrow when compared to achromatic refractor telescopes. However, this combination makes Maksutov telescopes ideal instruments for observing the Moon and planets. And when equipped with an Amici prism, they are also very well suited to nature-watching and nature photography.
The azimuthal single-arm mount is for taking smaller telescopes. It is easy to transport and quick to set up for use. Just attach the telescope to the mounting arm via its prism rail and you're ready to go. After the observing, you can use the handle to separate the optics from the mount and hence transport both conveniently and safely.
As the clamp is standardized for taking a prism rail, you can use it with a variety of different telescopes
