This apochromat offers a 2-element lens with special ED glass made of lanthanum, as well as a permanently integrated 2-element corrector (field flattener). The four-lens system (quadruplet) is an Astrograph optimised for astrophotography !
In addition, the Apo also offers decent visual performance. Magnifications of up to approx. 150x are easily handled by the ED lens, and colour aberrations are significantly reduced. The overall length of only approx. 30 centimetres with the dust cap retracted makes the Apo a real transport miracle.
- The 2.5" R&P focuser holds even heavy accessories securely in place thanks to reinforced ball bearings. It guarantees very precise adjustment thanks to the 1:10 reduction ratio. Once you have adjusted the focus precisely, you can lock the position with a knurled screw. This allows long exposure times without the focus shifting.
- Photography with the AP 70/474 Quadruplet: Simply connect your DSLR or CCD camera via a 2" adapter with T2 thread and the T2 ring that fits your camera bayonet. You don't need to calculate any special distances! Sensors up to 32 mm diagonal can be used very well – ideal for the APS-C format!
- Observing with the TS 70mm Quadruplet: The Apo is optimised for photography, but also offers very good performance for visual observation with 1.25" eyepieces. The focus position allows the use of 1.25" zenith mirrors or Amici prisms to erect the image. For example, with a 32 mm Super Plössl, you can achieve a gigantic field of view of 3.5° at only 14x magnification. This gives you the optimal overview. With a 3 mm eyepiece, you can achieve 148x magnification and thus observe details on the Moon and planets very well.
