The AP 90/500 optics are very compact at 40 centimetres in length and easy to transport thanks to the sturdy case. There is also a practical handle that allows the telescope to be easily placed on the mount.
The apochromatic doublet with air gap and ED special glass FPL-53 ensures very sharp images without colour fringing, thanks to the multi-coated optical surfaces with high transmission. With a fast focal ratio of f/5.5, the telescope has a high light intensity. This is noticeable during visual observation in bright, clear images and in astrophotography through short exposure times.
With an aperture of 90 millimetres, the apochromat is a medium-sized refracting telescope. Due to the lack of obstruction by a secondary mirror, it can compete with a 150 mm mirror telescope, but with a higher contrast image. The optics are ideal for visual observation and astrophotography of large nebula-like objects such as the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades, the Andromeda Galaxy or open star clusters.
The twist-lock system enables perfect clamping on the axis. Accessories can no longer become jammed, and annoying problems with the combination of "locking groove and ring clamp" are a thing of the past. By turning the upper ring, the ring closes perfectly around the eyepiece and centres it optimally on the axis. A slight tightening is sufficient to achieve a very stable clamping, as the entire surface is clamped.
In addition to centring, the system has the advantage that it can be easily operated with gloves and can also carry heavy loads.
