In brief:
- Fast photo Newtonian for astrophotography
- M48 connection thread for cameras
- Sensitive focuser with 1:10 reduction
- Extra-thin secondary mirror mount
This Newtonian is a compact, very fast instrument (f/4.1) for high-resolution astrophotography with short exposure times. It is ideal for large emission nebulae and galaxies. Despite the fastfocal ratio and optimisation as a photo Newtonian, it is also a pleasure to use for visual observation, especially for deep sky objects! The large focuser with 1:10 fine drive allows for a bright image field and precise focusing. The secondary mirror struts are kept extra thin to cause as little obstruction as possible in the optical path, resulting in better contrast. With a generous back focus of 77 millimetres, there is enough working distance for additional accessories such as a coma corrector or filter wheel. For astrophotography with this fast aperture ratio, you will definitely need a good coma corrector to maintain sharpness and point-like stars across the entire image field. With smaller camera sensors and purely visual use of this Newtonian, a coma corrector may not be absolutely necessary.
The scope comes with an 8x50 finder, a 35 mm extension tube (important for visual use), a 26 mm Super Plössl eyepiece and a fan for faster cooling of the primary mirror.
