The three-lens Apo has one of the best triplet lenses and a photographically optimised CNC focuser with rack and pinion according to the Starlight Feather Touch principle.
The tube has two screw-off segments, allowing three focus positions to be achieved behind the focuser. The result is a travel apochromat with colour-pure images and optimal spherical correction. The Apo offers better illumination than almost any other refractor of this aperture.
The objective of the Triplet Apo: The objective provides colour-pure images and meets the criteria of a full apo. The objective also offers the best possible spherical correction. The apo element comes from Ohara (Japan). The multi-coated triplet objective is in an adjustable mount and naturally has an air gap.
Split tube: The screw-off tube segments allow the use of any accessories, from binocular heads with 2" diagonal mirrors to correctors and reducer correctors. The focuser is always in the optimal position. This also guarantees the best possible field sharpness. When the focuser is in extreme positions, there is always a risk of tilting.
- Shortest position: transport, M63 Riccardi reducer, binocular observation with 2" diagonal mirrors without glass path compensation
- Middle position: Suitable for 2.5" TS flatteners for full-frame sensors
- Longest position: Suitable for 2" TS flatteners and for classic visual use
Tubes with screw-off segments can be manufactured with extreme precision. The accuracy achieved by CNC manufacturing is just as high as that of precision adaptors with screw connections, for example. There is no risk of tilting, unlike adaptors that allow the focuser to be moved, for example.
Photographic use: One telescope, two focal lengths
- Focal length 350 mm / aperture ratio f/4.5: The flexible focus position provided by the modular tube allows the use of the excellent 0.75x Riccardi Reducer. The focal length is reduced to 375 mm and the light intensity increased to F4.5. Sensors up to 42 mm in diameter are fully illuminated.
- Focal length 500 mm / aperture ratio f/6: With the TS 2.5" full-frame flattener, you can achieve 100% illumination even with full-frame sensors. The more affordable TS 2" flattener is very well suited for sensors up to approx. 30 mm in diameter.
