The SQA (Super Quintuplet Astrograph) apochromatic telescope is optimised for astrophotography. It uses a Petzval optical design consisting of five lenses in two separate groups:
- Front lens group: Consists of three lenses, two of which are SD (Super Dispersion) glass, which reduces chromatic aberration. This group forms the objective and ensures resolution and colour purity. There are defined air gaps between the lenses.
- Rear lens group: A Doublet of two lenses acts as a built-in field corrector, correcting field curvature and thus producing a flat image field. This eliminates the need for an external field flattener.
This classic Petzval arrangement uses the rear lens group to compensate for the field curvature typical of refractors, while the front triplet group determines the basic image quality and colour correction.
The sensitive focuser with reduction gear is equipped with a rotator. The rotator allows the camera sensor to be rotated to set the optimal image section. Two viewfinder bases are attached to the focuser. They serve as mounting for guidescopes, ASIAIR or other accessories.
The M48/M54/M68 adaptors offer variable connection options. Working distances of 46 to 76 millimetres are supported, with 55 millimetres recommended. This has become the standard for cameras.
The dust cap is extendable, which reduces the transport length. It also offers good protection against stray light.
