Explore Scientific's large-field achromatic refractors feature the classic refractor design with a Fraunhofer double-lens air gap objective in a short focal length version. This allows for impressive observations of large objects.
With these telescopes, "strolling" through the Milky Way and observing large objects such as the Andromeda or Orion nebulae becomes addictive – but of course they are also suitable for observing double stars, planets and the Moon – and all this for a fraction of the price you would pay for an apochromatic refractor.
The Explore Scientific large-field achromatic refractors are equipped with a high-quality 2" Crayford focuser with reduction gear as standard. The eyepiece holder uses a clamping ring to protect the eyepiece or camera from clamp marks. With the built-in reduction gear, it is child's play to precisely focus the image.
The tube of the large-field achromats is held by two tube clamps equipped with a carrying handle and a dovetail rail. With this rail, you can attach the telescope to practically all mounts from well-known manufacturers, in particular the mounts from Bresser, Celestron, iOptron, Skywatcher and Vixen.
The dielectrically coated diagonal mirrors include an adaptor to 1.25". This allows you to use eyepieces with both 2" and 1.25" barrel sizes. The diagonal mirrors are equipped with dust caps to protect the mirrors. The purpose of a diagonal mirror is to provide a comfortable viewing position. The highly reflective coating of the mirror (99% reflection) consists of many thin dielectric layers, providing maximum image brightness.
The 8x50 finder scope has a true field of view of 6°. The coated optics deliver a bright, high-resolution image, allowing many faint stars and nebulae to be seen. This makes it much easier to centre objects precisely. The 8x50 finder is held in place by a mounting with six adjustment screws. The objective can be adjusted to focus the finder.
