The Orion ED 80/480 telescope:
The heart of the telescope is a triplet apochromat objective lens, which means that it is a combination of three lens elements. Special FPL-53 glass has been employed. And, in addition, the lenses have been treated with a high-quality anti-reflection coating.
This all means that the telescope achieves fantastic correction, resulting in a colour-neutral image and very high contrast. Observing planets through this telescope is a real joy and you will be amazed by the excellent contrast and the aberration-free image.
The refractor is ideal for use as a wide-field telescope for the observing or photography of large areas of the sky.

Carbon Fibre Tube
This apochromat is well suitable to visual observing but was, in fact, developed especially for astrophotography. Use the advantages of a carbon fibre tube: it is particularly light and so even perfectly suitable for using on smaller mounts. The tube also offers a very high inherent stability and only minimal thermal expansion. These advantages are particularly useful for astrophotography, as the focus remains stable for the whole night. The dew shield is also carbon fibre and can be extended easily. In addition, the tube is lined with black felt.
