The combination of an Ohara FPL-53 ED lens element with two other lens elements ensures that the objective lens delivers high contrast but no apparent chromatic aberration - even with very bright objects. Ohara is a German company from Hofheim in the Taunus range and is a world leader in the manufacture and development of optical glass. FPL series glasses were developed by Ohara specifically for applications in astronomy.
