The Vixen C 200/1800 optics: The VC200L VISAC has been specially developed for the requirements of astrophotography. Vixen's unique catadioptric system has an aspherical primary mirror, a convex secondary mirror and an additional triplet correction lens. This combination results in the VISAC telescope optics(Vixen Sixth-Order Aspherical Cassegrain). The VISAC system offers you pinpoint stars right to the edge of the field of view, as it corrects all three types of aberrations in mirror telescopes.
The primary mirror is held in position by a retaining ring (instead of three retaining points as in other systems), which significantly improves contrast. Focusing is not achieved via the primary mirror, but via a Crayford focuser. This also eliminates the problem of mirror shifting.
A disadvantage compared to classic SC optics is the higher obstruction caused by the secondary mirror. This interferes with the observation of the Moon and planets (lower contrast) and the purely visual observation (shadowing) of deep sky objects. The higher obstruction is not noticeable in astrophotography. This is where the VC200L with its highly corrected optics shows its strengths – a true astrograph!
In addition to the corrected optics, another advantage over classic Schmidt-Cassegrain optics is the open tube, which ensures rapid temperature adjustment. Furthermore, there is no Schmidt plate that can fog up with dew. Compared to a Newton telescope, the VC200L is much more stable in terms of adjustment. This is also ensured by the very stable secondary mirror mount.
With the optional reducer, the exposure time can be significantly reduced.
The equipment includes a prism rail, which prevents marks from the mounting screws on the rail with additional stainless steel strips. The integrated carrying handle makes it easy to transport the telescope.
With the optional reducer, the exposure time can be significantly reduced.
Aluminium vacuum coating system:
Vixen has developed a unique aluminium vacuum coating system which creates extremely precise mirror surfaces. This revolutionary system allows the controlled coating of the primary mirror and so achieves a very high degree of accuracy. This coating is used with both the VC200L, as well as the R200SS.
