The Askar 80ED is a telescope with an aperture of 80mm, a focal length of 560mm, and a focal ratio of F7. The optical lens features a two-element structure, consisting of one ED glass and one standard achromatic glass.
Compact and lightweight - ideal for traveling
The dew cap can be screwed over the tube, which shortens the transport length to only 40 cm. Due to the weight of only 2 kg, the refractor can also be carried by small and compact mounts or photo tripods. The flexible dovetail bar (Vixen GP style) also offers a 1/4" internal thread, suitable for photo tripods. The carrying handle makes transportation and attachment to the mount even easier.
The high-quality 2" r&p focuser
The modern and stable focuser is also designed for heavy accessories. It offers a focusing range of 70 mm and, of course, dual-speed for precise focusing in astrophotography. The focuser has an internal thread which enables problem-free adaptation of motorized focus systems, such as the EAF from ZWO, without the need for an additional adapter. Of course, the optional correctors for astrophotography are screwed to the focuser, so no tilting is possible. Of course, the focuser also offers 360° rotation for ideal camera orientation.
A special highlight of the focuser are two quick-release couplings for viewfinder telescopes and mini guide scopes. This provides space for a finder or red dot finder and a guide scope or a flexible camera mount for parallel photography.
R&P stands for Rack and Pinion (RAP). In this type of focuser, the rack is positioned at an angle and the bearing is decoupled from the focusing mechanism. This allows even a heavy eyepiece or a larger camera to be focused precisely without the image shifting or slipping.
Astrophotography with the 80 mm ED refractor
Photographing the moon and planets is no problem thanks to the well-corrected color error and the comfortable working distance. Three correctors specially calculated for the ED are available for deep-sky photography. The correctors are simply screwed to the focuser using the M58x1 thread.
The following correctors are available:
- 1.0x flattener - The focal length of 560 mm and the focal ratio of f/7 remain unchanged.
- 0.85x corrector - The focal length is reduced to 476 mm and the focal ratio is improved to f/5.95.
- 0.7x corrector - The focal length is reduced to 392 mm and the focal ratio is improved to f/4.9.
Observation with the 80 mm ED refractor
The refractor is designed for all visual applications thanks to the generous working distance of 168 mm from the 2" receptacle and the convenient adjustment range of the focuser. You can use 2" star diagonal mirrors, all common Herschel prisms for solar observation (please note: only with additional attenuation filter) and even binoviewers.
