The 94 mm apo with the fast focal ratio of f/5.5 is aimed at all amateur astronomers who are interested in a compact, pure color and fast apo. The triplet lens design includes two special ED elements. This provides an image that is free of disturbing chromatic aberrations even at higher magnifications. The optical performance of this newly developed lens corresponds to that of an FPL53 triplet. This lens is held in a CNC-milled mount, which is, of course, adjustable.
The refractor also convinces by its solid mechanics. The telescope is delivered with a 3" dual-speed rack and pinion focuser. Adjustment and bearing are separated from each other. This prevents tilting of the draw-tube when clamping and allows precise adjustment even with heavy loads.
The pure color triplet lens naturally also provides an excellent basis for observation. The high-contrast image ensures a clear image even at daytime, for example when observing birds. The aperture of 94 mm also shows the crater landscape on the moon during the night or exciting details on the planets of the solar system. Many thousands of deep-sky objects are also within the range of the apo. You can use 1.25" and 2" accessories, such as 2" star diagonal mirrors.
The apochromat was specially developed for astrophotography. The scope includes a high-quality field flattener (4 elements with ED glass) that flattens the curved image of the telescope lens. This means that even the large sensor of a full-frame camera is in the same focus position at every point.
- The flattener allows a camera or a T2 ring to be connected via the M48 thread. The working distance (back focus) of this thread is 55 millimetres, which is ideal for most astronomical and DSLR cameras. 2" filters can be screwed into the flattener itself.
- The flattener also acts as a reducer: the optics of the telescope have an aperture ratio of f/5.5. Only when the flattener is used does the fast aperture ratio of f/4.4 with an effective focal length of 414 millimetres specified in the technical data become apparent.
- The flattener can also be purchased separately and easily screwed on.
For purely visual observation, the flattener can be removed and replaced with a 2" barrel. This allows you to use 2" accessories such as diagonal mirrors or amici prisms. Another adaptor included in the scope's scope of delivery even allows the use of 1.25" accessories.
The carrying handle is a truly multi-functional part: The handle not only makes mounting on a photo tripod easier, but is also the basis for further adaptations. The handle has a slotted hole and a 1/4" photo thread. You can attach a ball head to it and mount a second camera in parallel, for example. Next to the carrying handle is a finder shoe for finder scopes, mini telescopes or red-dot finders.
