The AP 126/970 optics are a real dream telescope!
With 126 millimetres of obstruction-free optics, even observing faint objects is a pleasure, while the relatively low focal length ensures a wide field of view!
The crisp image in the eyepiece separates double stars and shows details during planetary observation, while the virtually non-existent colour aberration does not interfere with viewing pleasure!
The optics are still very well suited in terms of size and weight for travelling to an observation site with a dark sky.
In addition to the joy of visual observation, such a telescope is predestined for astrophotography, especially with DSLR cameras (single-lens reflex). With the AP 126/970, all possibilities are open.
The ZenithStar 126 is the largest telescope in the highly successful ZenithStar series from William Optics. Like all telescopes in this series, it impresses with its excellent workmanship, optics and features.
The 3" V-Power focuser is particularly noteworthy. It can hold heavy accessories without slipping, has a reduction gear and is rotatable. The latter means that you can rotate a connected camera or diagonal mirror without loosening the clamp on this accessory.
Another special feature is the Bahtinov mask, which has been specially designed for the ZenithStar 126. This mask is a useful aid for setting the correct focus when taking photographs.
The William Optics Adjustable Flattener Reducer Flat6A II is a very useful accessory for astrophotography. In combination with this correcting optics, the apo provides a corrected image field of 43mm diameter (full format) and a focal ratio of f/6.2 thanks to which the required exposure times are shorter.
To use the flattener, you only need to unscrew the 2" adaptors of the telescope and screw the flattener onto the exposed M63 thread. The adjustable flattener must then be set once to the correct distance using the spacer ring. The illustration on the right shows the resulting distances including the backfocus.
