With a 4-inch aperture, the AP 100/800 optics are a classic size for beginners. However, this four-inch model offers outstanding optical and mechanical quality! You can rest assured that the optics will live up to their theoretical specifications in the sky!
The very high-quality 100-millimetre optics have a slightly longer focal length and therefore a relatively small aperture ratio of f/8. This design is a very good compromise between visual use at high magnification and astrophotography with a wide field of view.
The front lens is a high-quality triplet with ED glass, tried and tested over many years. The image quality of this lens is enhanced by the temperature-compensated mount design and high-quality multi-coating. To back this up, the optics come with an interferometric test report.
The torsion-resistant tube is made of aluminium and equipped with a lens hood system.
The high-quality ZTA 2.5" focuser from APM with 1:10 micro reduction is more than adequate for the high standard of the optics. It can be rotated 360° and is of course ideal for astrophotography. The focuser accepts accessories with 2" barrel adaptors. Thanks to the Fast-Lock adaptor, accessories with a 1.25" barrel can also be securely and centrically clamped.
