The AP 86/464 SDQ optics are ideal for mobile astrophotography with large sensors. It is a modified Petzval design with an FDC-100 doublet objective and a 2-element corrector that is permanently installed in the tube. This ensures a corrected image field of 60 mm in diameter.
In the Petzval design, the objective lens is designed as a doublet and corrects spherical aberration (focus error) very well, resulting in a very sharp image. The downstream aperture corrects astigmatism. The additional doublet of two lenses in the beam path finally corrects the so-called coma. Ultimately, four lenses are used, which is why it can be referred to as a quadruplet apochromat, even though the objective lens is only a doublet.
Further advantages:
- High-quality 3" R&P focuser with micro reduction, also for heavy cameras
- 360° rotation and tilting mechanism
- The back focus of 95 millimetres allows the adaptation of any photographic equipment and also visual observation
Each SDQ-Apo is optically and mechanically tested before shipping, using an artificial star at high magnification. This guarantees optimum performance.
Tilting mechanism: A tilting device at the end of the focuser allows you to achieve even better field correction. Even minimal tilting, including of the camera sensor, has an effect on the image with this extreme telescope. With the three pull screws and three push screws at the end of the telescope, you can achieve individual fine adjustment for truly outstanding star sharpness from one end of the sensor to the other.
- Connection of a DSLR camera: The APO has a working distance of 95 millimetres from the 2" receptacle. The focuser tube itself offers an adjustment range of 40 millimetres. A DSLR can be connected using the TS Optics Adaptors 2" / T2 40mm and a T2 ring suitable for the camera.
- Connection of Astronomik cameras with sensors up to 30 mm diameter via the M82 thread: With the adaptors TS Optics Adapter Adaptors M82x1 / M48x0,75 and TS Optics Adapter M48 inverting ring you can adapt to the M48 thread. The working distance is then 102 mm. There is enough space to accommodate filter wheels, off-axis-guiders or similar.
- Connection of DSLR and other cameras with large sensors from 30 mm diameter via the M82 thread: With the adaptors TS Optics Adapter Adaptors M82 / M68 you get the ZEISS level thread connection with M68x1 external thread at a working distance of 102 mm. You can connect your camera via the M68x1 adapter system from TS Optics and Baader.
